I have a giant breed, along with 3 large breed dogs. All of them get a lot of pleasure out of shredding their dog beds. The only 'dog' beds that have held up are the Kuranda beds. I also have a small twin mattress which has survived an entire year and is still in tact (which is a small miracle with my dogs!). I've heard baby bed mattresses also make great beds for large breeds. With a large or giant breed dog, sleeping on the floor shouldn't be an option. Larger dogs tend to have arthritis and joint issues as they age, more so than smaller breeds. A soft place to rest is a must, even when they are pups.
