The Starlings perform live in Studio ’99
It’s not every day we get to hear live music from a band as far away as Seattle, Wash. The Starlings, who call Seattle home, recently performed in Chattanooga in support of their new CD “Marveling the While.” Led by songwriting duo Joy Mills and Tom Parker, the Starlings are a little bit Texas, a little bit Midwest and a little bit Southern, all wrapped together. The songwriting is what makes the music stand out though. On this week’s MUSICcast, we’ll hear the Starlings perform “Geraldine,” a song about Tom’s mother, and “Love and War,” a song about, well, “love and war,” according to Joy Mills. The Starlings are a band to expect great things from in the future. Listen Here.
Some Shows:
Lucky for us, Nightfall tonight is headlined by Basia Bulat. I had the pleasure of seeing this young, Canadian songwriter open for another band in Atlanta. She’s going to be a superstar. Showtime is 8 p.m.
At JJ’s Bohemia tonight, Opposite Box, Eloquence Of Suffering and Crank Sanatra are scheduled to perform. Show is at 9 p.m. $5 cover.
Also tonight, How I Became the Bomb performs with Protomen at Rhythm & Brews.
Riverfront nights hosts The Mother Truckers on Saturday night. This is a free concert. Showtime is 8 p.m. The stage is near the pier at Ross’s Landing.
Have a great weekend.
