Murray County judge under state investigation resigns

A Murray County judge who has been under investigation for allegations that he solicited a woman for sex and pre-signed warrants has resigned, officials confirmed.

Chief Magistrate Bryant Cochran has agreed to resign and never be a judge again, said Judicial Qualifications Commission Director Jeff Davis.

As for criminal charges, local authorities will have to decide if Cochran should be prosecuted, Davis said.

Cochran has been under investigation for allegations that he asked Angie Garmley to come to his chambers and have sex with him in order for him to rule in her favor in a case she had before the court.

He was also being investigated for pre-signing warrants that were then used to arrest people, officials said.
