A nationwide bomb threat was made to a Georgia-based movie theater company that has four theaters in the Chattanooga area.
Callers identifying themselves as employees of a vendor used by the Columbus-based Carmike Cinemas made the threats to theaters, said Terrell Mayton, company spokesman. The threats were made in multiple states, but nothing suspicious has been located, Mayton said. A threat was also phoned into the corporate office, he said.
There are four Carmike Cinemas in the Chattanooga area — Majestic 12, Northgate 14 and Wynnsong 10 in Chattanoooga and Battlefield 10 in Fort Oglethorpe — and all were checked out and declared clean this morning, local law enforcement said.
All the threats concerned the action movie “The Expendables 2,” which opened today, Mayton said.
