The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines ridiculous as "arousing or deserving ridicule; extremely silly or unreasonable; synonyms-Absurd, preposterous."
The depths to which a politician will sink to raise money may have hit a new low.
The official Obama/Biden campaign site now encourages not just campaign contributions, but sacrifices on behalf of potential donors to forego their own celebratory gifts.
The "Obama Event Registry" features the following text:
"Got a birthday, anniversary, or wedding coming up?
"Let your friends know how important this election is to you -- register with Obama 2012, and ask for a donation in lieu of a gift. It's a great way to support the President on your big day. Plus, it's a gift that we can all appreciate -- and goes a lot further than a gravy bowl.
"Setting up and sharing your registry page is easy -- so get started today."
Whether this type of panhandling, actually begging, is an indication of desperation reflected in fundraising problems, simply another demonstration of the arrogance of a candidate who seems so out of touch with reality, or both, it does offer a glimpse into a campaign completely immersed in the priority of raising cash.
President Obama suggests that a contribution to his re-election campaign would go "a lot further than a gravy bowl." Anyone have any ideas on how to ship a plunger? It seems a load of waste is backing up.

We get it, you hate Obama, you'd rather he just sold himself out to big corporation donors with millions to spend instead.
Thanks for making it clear where you stand.
On the side of Plutocracy.

He has done this already as has Romney. Obama is also courting celebrities and other sources of big money but the most frightening Obama source is George Soros. Romney has his special interest influences as well. The point is both parties are sick.

Let me get this straight, you don't think Obama should fundraise, but it is ok for foreign entities to sway our country's elections with contributions. I don't think you, (the author), understand what is happening. But, I am so glad you cleared up ridiculous for us.

Really? Are you sure? I am not going to stand on the merits of Soros, but really, I would think Koch would be much scarier than Soros. But it is neither of those monies or influence that is the scariest. The scariest by far is the hidden money coming in from other countries in the way of private donors by means of citizen's united decision from the Supreme Court. Until that is undone, money and fundraising to get elected will be desperate. Heck, Americanism is already desperate.
There is a letter put out by Republicans urging support for the pipe line coming through our country. The letter says that we need that gas and that Obama is using this to keep gas prices high. Now that is ridiculous. We are not even going to see that gas. We are just the transporter. But that doesn't stop Republicans from fundraising on lies or ignorance. Obama may seem desperate for fundraising because he is. He is up against every dollar in the world that wants to see America as a plutocracy.

Both parties are sick. But we cannot fix it if we are not in the game. Any attempt at repairing the system, campaign finance, banking regulations, lobbiest regulations have been fought by the republicans at every step. We have been infiltrated by traitors that want nothing more than to tear this country apart. And they have fooled many. The Democrats, true to their "live and let live" mentality, have not stepped up with the game to win. Both are sick, but it is what we have. President Obama may not be my perfect president. But he will get my vote.
OK onewoman, but don't just give him your vote, be sure and give him your's and everyone else's you can talk into's anniversary and birthday gifts money too, like he asks. LMAO
We have all the way to November to see which party can stoop down and limbo best. This is where Obama does get my vote.

Are you high? LMAOatyou. I can't give him anyone else's vote. You must be confusing me with a Republican, or maybe what you would do. Republicans are the ones that give votes, take votes, and deny votes.
Oh geezz, here we go on voter registration again, hence the word...registration. I can't believe you dems are so stupid that you don't realize that's good for everybody, but only if you're looking to have fair and accurate elections.
I might be high from time to time, but even at that, I can understand what I read. That seems to be more than you're capable of.
My statement was...don't just give him your vote, be sure and give him your's and everyone else's you can talk into's ANNIVERSARY AND BIRTHDAY GIFTS MONEY TOO.
Obama's pity site is asking for your MONEY, not your vote. Anybody looking at that site is already giving him their vote. He wants money too, so he can BUY more votes, because his brief history in office has earned him NONE. Pay attention.
Son, instead of that bike you wanted for your birthday your mother and I decided instead to use the money to help reelect President Obama. We are even going to put your name on the donation!
"Obama campaign soliciting birthday, wedding gifts in fundraising ploy"
"the "Obama Event Registry," which asks anyone with an upcoming birthday, wedding, or anniversary to "support the President on your big day" by asking for donation money "in lieu of a gift.""

You guys are a joke.
JustOneWoman,
I concur.
They don't understand that people will actually donate to Obama through this "Event Registry". There are many Obama supporters that would really enjoy if their friends and family donated to the President's campaign.
Soon to be White House homeless Owebama has resorted to panhandling : "Instead of another gift card you'll forget to use, ask your friends and family for something that will go a little further: a donation for Obama for America."

Conservative,
You do realize that people will use this avenue to donate, right?
All you're doing is giving people likes about how to go about doing it.
Been struggling with a way out of buying band candy from a coworker?
Conservative,
Been reaching for something to bash Obama about? We all know the answer.
Owebama can't wait to swap anniversary gifts with Michelle ( I might have to explain that one to Liberals ).
You always know it's going to be a good piece of writing when it starts with, "The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines. . ."
Anyway, that's a great idea. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm going to sign up for that Obama gift registry right away!
Hey buddy, can you spare a dime? How about your child's birthday or your wedding gifts?
conservative said... Been struggling with a way out of buying band candy from a coworker?
Why am I not surprised? Just say no. Why do you try to hide your selfishness? Never mind what the band might accomplish with your dollars. Gee Con, why do you even give us your time?

I agree, but they sure didn't reach far. Those items have been on the Obama site for a while now. It must be a slow "hate", I mean news day for the author and for these guys.
woman..
According to CBS the "for a while" timeline begin a long time ago as in Friday ( A blog post on the Obama/Biden 2012 website on FRIDAY announced the campaign's newest fundraising ploy - the "Obama Event Registry," ).
I quess the mental pain Owebama inflicted on his supporters with this latest blunder does seem like a long time.
Today Blunder mouth Biden made us mindful of the economy under Owebama with this :
"VP Biden: For the millions of Americans without jobs, the U.S. economy is in a ‘depression’ "
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2009/10/vp-biden-for-the-millions-of-americans-without-jobs-the-us-economy-is-in-a-depression/
Ouch! I would say I was LMAOatWoman while reading that link, if it hadn't been so depressing.
That Joe Gaffe Biden does have way with words.
Nothing says "I love you" like diverting gift money for a loved one to the ALMIGHTY POTUS, which art in the white house. In his name, from whom all blessings flow, Amen.
Imagine how much better this editorial would have been if a professional writer had deleted that last paragraph before publication.
How many people do you think got persuaded into adopting a public policy decision by the sewage-related imagery used to refer to the campaign of the President of the United States?
We're all aware that one of the main functions of professional news is to inform the public and to provide insight for public policy, right? Did this editorial provide us with an insightful opinion on how we should react to public figures? Could an editor-in-chief have provided that insight without toilet jokes?
Do you plan on using a lot of sewer jokes about President Emeritus George W. Bush, or any other Republican Presidents? Or, do you just use feces for people you don't like?
Got any good toilet clog jokes about Reagan?
The last editor-in-chief published Bible verses. Many of us found them annoying, but he rarely lowered his influence by looking petty and childish. He generally stayed away from the turd references. Give that a try.
