about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

Do you pathetic fools actually think the voting public cares about a childish incident that happened almost 50 years ago? Are you people that stupid? Do you think the public cares about obutthead bullying a little girl when he was younger by pushing her down? Obutthead admitted this happened and the only proof you have that Romney did this is from some fool you dummycrasts pulled from your baseless attack pool of fools. Are you so blind to all of obuttheads failures that you think this crap warrants attention? How pathetic and disgusting dummycrat/liberal politics has become.

Obama's the bully now, he bullied his socialist healthcare down our throats in the dark of night, to me, that's much more dangerous to our nation than something that happened 50 years ago by silly school kids.

Again, only Obama can get away with this because the media slobbers at the feet of the boy king!

And by the way, the kids family is denying any of this even took place! They say they can't remember any of this taking place!

For me, I care not one whit about "childish behavior". I DO care about a presidential contender who cannot apparently understand this was bullying as he giggles while discussing it today, I DO care about giving the reins of power to corporatists who "enjoy firing people".

If you're listening Gov. Romney (doubtful), take two hours on a Saturday night and read Barbara Enrenreich's Nickled and Dimed while just sitting in a hospital emergency room in any inner city of your choice. Tell us again how more than 1 in 7 of our citizens are poor because they do not work hard enough (US Census data, Sept 2011: over 46 million below Fed. poverty line of $22,350 per year for a family of four). Most of us (58.7% per Census data) will spend at least one year in poverty between age 25 and 75.

Poverty sucks the life out of people and stunts growth and brain development. Those of us who can pay more and fight not to do it are tainted by our actions and yes, Ward Churchill, responsible in part for these outcomes.

Whether we taunt our schoolmates for being different, walk by the homeless without a thought, revere the 'job creators' and not the workers or strangle newborn babies in their crib, it's all the same thing. It's just a matter of degree. [George Bernard Shaw famously guipped: GBS: Madam, will you sleep with me for 1,000 pounds? Woman: Yes. GBS: How about 10 quid? Woman: What do you think I am, a hussy! GBS: We have already determined what you are. I am just negotiating the price.]

Whether my group, my tribe, my race or whatever, I DO care about raising myself up by putting others down and by standing upon them. Gov. Romney did that as a child and apparently does that as an adult. For THAT, I do not trust him to lead all of us to a better place.

Unfortunately, you’re right about this, Clay Bennett. Mitt Romney’s arrogant attitude and preferred social policies haven’t changed much since his high school days. Romney mocks vulnerable populations today just like he did yesterday:

“One venerable English teacher, Carl G. Wonnberger, nicknamed “the Bat” for his diminished eyesight, was known to walk into the trophy case and apologize. . .

As an underclassman, Romney accompanied Wonnberger and Pierce Getsinger, another student, from the second floor of the main academic building to the library to retrieve a book the two boys needed.

According to Getsinger, Romney opened a first set of doors for Wonnberger, but then at the next set, with other students around, he swept his hand forward, bidding the teacher into a closed door. Wonnberger walked right into it and Getsinger said Romney giggled hysterically as the teacher shrugged it off as another of life’s indignities.”

Me too, Dougmusn. You know Mitt Romney would also have us to believe that “corporations are people too.” Indeed, if this is the case, then most of these "people" would fall into the sector that society calls psychopaths:

"To assess the "personality" of the corporate "person," a checklist is employed, using diagnostic criteria of the World Health Organization and the standard diagnostic tool of psychiatrists and psychologists. The operational principles of the corporation give it a highly anti-social "personality": it is self-interested, inherently amoral, callous and deceitful; it breaches social and legal standards to get its way; it does not suffer from guilt, yet it can mimic the human qualities of empathy, caring and altruism. Four case studies, drawn from a universe of corporate activity, clearly demonstrate harm to workers, human health, animals and the biosphere. Concluding this point-by-point analysis, a disturbing diagnosis is delivered: the institutional embodiment of laissez-faire capitalism fully meets the diagnostic criteria of a "psychopath."

Joneses hissed: "The difference between obutthead and Romney is obutthead wants to keep printing money and adding to our debt to pay for these programs and Romney wants the to be funded."

Aren’t you overlooking some major factors in your so-called analysis, Joneses? The bottom-line is that nothing is going to change until the unfettered greed that is dominating our political process is challenged, and, clearly, a corporate psychopath like Mitt Romney is not the man for the job. Because corporate psychopaths like Romney continue to be the major problem.

This latest scandal with J.P. Morgan is exactly the type of financial fiasco that President Obama sought to ban with the 2010 Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform law, which greedy corporate psychopaths like Mitt Romney want to repeal:

“J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., the nation’s largest bank, whose chief executive, Jamie Dimon, has lead Wall Street’s war against regulation, announced Thursday it had lost $2 billion in trades over the past six weeks and could face an additional $1 billion of losses, due to excessively risky bets. . .

Ever since the start of the banking crisis in 2008, Dimon has been arguing that more government regulation of Wall Street is unnecessary. Last year he vehemently and loudly opposed the so-called Volcker rule, itself a watered-down version of the old Glass-Steagall Act that used to separate commercial from investment banking before it was repealed in 1999, saying it would unnecessarily impinge on derivative trading (the lucrative practice of making bets on bets) and hedging (using some bets to offset the risks of other bets).

Dimon argued that the financial system could be trusted; that the near-meltdown of 2008 was a perfect storm that would never happen again.

Since then, J.P. Morgan’s lobbyists and lawyers have done everything in their power to eviscerate the Volcker rule — creating exceptions, exemptions, and loopholes that effectively allow any big bank to go on doing most of the derivative trading it was doing before the near-meltdown.

And now — only a few years after the banking crisis that forced American taxpayers to bail out the Street, caused home values to plunge by more than 30 percent and pushed millions of homeowners underwater, threatened or diminished the savings of millions more, and sent the entire American economy hurtling into the worst downturn since the Great Depression — J.P. Morgan Chase recapitulates the whole debacle with the same kind of errors, sloppiness, bad judgment, excessively risky trades poorly-executed and poorly-monitored, that caused the crisis in the first place.”

I guess the good news for Romney in the bullying story is that it will help with solidifying Republican base voters who cheer the idea of people dying because of lack of health insurance, boo a gay soldier, and laugh and applaud in delight when people say things like “in nature, the lions eat the weak”. Another plus: maybe animal lovers will think "hey, he’s not especially cruel to dogs, he treats everybody that way." But the American public should not be surprised by this story, because Romney and his Republican party’s entire philosophy is straight out of Lord of The Flies. via;Michael Lux

It’s not just that the Republicans oppose hate crime and anti-bullying legislation because it gives certain people they don’t like “special status”, or that they have been trying to defund the Violence Against Women Act or withdraw its help from immigrant women. It’s not only that they want the American government to be able to torture people in violation of our constitution, our treaties, and our oldest traditions as a country. In fact, the Lord of the Flies philosophy is at the very heart of their economic plans. The Ryan-Romney budget is all about giving the wealthy and powerful everything, and taking money and resources away from the elderly, people with disabilities, the poor, and the working class in this country. They want to let polluters go free to do what they will in poisoning our air and water and climate, and big oil to take unending subsidies and tax loopholes. They want the big insurance companies to be able to keep the sick from getting coverage. They want to leave the Wall Street titans free to speculate and cheat their customers and wreak ever more havoc with the economy. In short, Romney and Ryan want the strong to be set free to do what they will to the rest of us. Each of us would be on our own, the safety net and most basic consumer protections would be shredded, and the devil take the hindmost. It is the cruelty of Romney’s high school “pranks and hijinks” turned into an entire economic system.Mike Lux

Get real, Toes02800. What’s dangerous in this country is the reckless behavior of some of these Republican politicians including Mitt Romney. It become more and more obvious each day they remain in office. The Republicans simply cannot be trusted:

“Something terrible happened in Congress yesterday—and nobody seemed to notice. House Republicans voted to take money away from programs meant to help poor people and give it to the military instead.

That’s not my idea of wise policy, but that’s what was terrible about it. The problem is that the vote constitutes a collective Republican welching on the agreement that was reached last spring to raise the statutory debt ceiling and avoid national default.

Yesterday’s vote doesn’t undo the deal or cause any immediate problems, but by so speedily backing out of their agreement, the Republicans have done something much worse—made it impossible for anyone to negotiate with them in the future, because it’s clear they cannot be trusted to keep the promises they made.”

“It is striking how closely this debate mirrors the slavery debate in antebellum America. Then, pro-slavery forces read key passages in the Bible in a "commonsense" manner and concluded that God was in favor of slavery.

Meanwhile, anti-slavery activists, seeking after the "spirit" rather than the "letter" of the Biblical text, concluded that slavery flew in the face of both "love your neighbor" and the Golden Rule. . .

As with slavery in the nineteenth century, public opinion in the twenty-first century is shifting rapidly on the gay marriage question, and not only among secular types. Billy Graham and other evangelicals who continue to insist that “the Bible is clear” in its opposition to gay marriage would do well to heed the lessons of America's most costly conflagration over race.

As they preach what they see as the "clear" meaning of scripture, they are not only swimming against the tide of history. They are putting their own religious tradition at risk.

What other great plan do you have then? Then you'll be forced to go after the middle class to pay for all of the unfunded mandates that you all are so fond of.

Well, Jack, how would you describe what is happening? The last time that I checked the dictionary defined the word “hate” as a "dislike of somebody or something intensely." You can hardly describe what Mitt Romney and the people at Liberty University have to say about this same sex marriage issue as an act of brotherly and sisterly love.

I wonder why people think that if the poor were given money, it'd somehow just magically go away, rather than be used like they claim money given to the rich is going to trickle down. Well, there is one difference, the "poor" would spend their money, and yes, that rising tide would lift a lot more boats. Unlike the trickle-down effect, which doesn't work.

As for the GOP versus Democrat purity, let's try:

Newt Gingrich, serial adulterer Strom Thurmond, filibusterer of the Civil Rights Act, segregationist, and father of a child out of Wedlock.
Tom Delay, money laundering and corruption Richard Nixon, do I even need to bother? George Ryan, in prison for federal corruption charges involving corrupt contracts and bribes. Including a deadly crash that killed six children! Larry Craig, who did what? Lewd conduct in a restroom? Ted Stevens, who escaped conviction on a pair of technicalities! Bob Packwood, had to be threatened with expulsion from the Senate after his harassment and abuse of women was exposed! Rick Scott, governor of Florida, whose company admitted to bilking Medicare over over 600 million dollars? Ken Lay, chairman of Enron, which did what again? Billions in investment losses? Scooter Libby, convicted of how many felonies?

Sorry Toes, your party ain't pure either.

PS, you already went back to the sixties, when you got all hysterical about Obama eating dog-meat as a child.

You lose the right to indignation with that act.

As for the polls, do try to name them people.

Obama's up in others like Associated Press and Reuters. Whose model is better? Guess we'll never know.

Not that the election will be conducted on nationwide preference, so it's silly to worry about anyway.

Still, keep having your collective hysteria over them, your copious silence when they swing the other way says plenty.

It'd be a lot more productive to pick a different path. Which I have, namely by supporting programs that aid and support them.

BTW, Gallup has Obama up this week.

And no, TOES, the dog-eating thing was because you wanted something to chastise Obama about, so you picked something he wrote in his biography (IOW, not hiding it), and tried to chastise him for it. Since I’ve already answered the question, I can only assume that you’re trying to avoid answering my question to you, Jack_Dennis. Why is this? Again, how would you describe Mitt Romney and Liberty University’s rhetoric in regard to this same sex marriage issue? It certainly seems rather hateful and intolerant to me.

Personally, I’m tired of all of this hateful religious rhetoric and believe that Mitt Romney and the people at Liberty University deserve one another. When young Mormon missionaries go door to door giving their "gospel" presentation, they usually mention an apostasy and the need for a prophet, "their prophet," to restore the "true" Teachings of Jesus.

The same can be said of Liberty University. Although their representatives do not go door to door, they do include their views about the Mormon faith in the University’s graduate courses:

Graduate course Theology 678—Western and New Religions:

COURSE DESCRIPTION: "The history, doctrines, and present state of the major cults such as Mormonism, Christian Science, Jehovah's Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventism. The course will also include a study of the Occult Movement. Emphasis is placed on the errors of these groups and on methods and materials for confronting them effectively. [Page 173]

Makes me wonder why you bothered with the cents.

Not that you're talking about the deficit, but the debt, which I can recognized might be a simple mistake, but the attribution of all of it to Obama is a far more malicious error.

I'd dispute your other wrongful claims, but I know it's not worth the bother. You won't even admit this one with civility.

TOE02800, in my house we collect from the people who owe us money for services rendered. I suppose we could take everything the poor have like you suggested we take from the wealthy, but I doubt you'll like that result.

TOES02800: Actually, you're the one who can't grasp the problem we face is as with revenue.

Maybe you think starving yourself to death instead of collecting bills is the better way to go, but I don't.

See, that's the thing you don't recognize, I realize if I owed a sum of money for spending, that sitting on my butt would be less effective than going out and getting paid.

Now since the government isn't sitting idle, but performing plenty of useful tasks like floating aircraft carriers in the Middle East so that Oil companies can drill in peace, not to mention enforcing copyright and patent laws, and even fighting pirates...wow, that's kinda worth being paid for doing, isn't it?

And then there's the other side of the problem, when I've paid somebody for something, and they haven't delivered. Pardon me, but I like holding them accountable. Like say, Halliburton.

But you'll never grasp that, you'll just stick to frenetically denying the other part of the solution.

And not only that, you misrepresent what I said. I didn't say anything about spending more money. I said I'd collect what was due.

" in my house we collect from the people who owe us money for services rendered. Namely the ones receiving the most benefit, that would be the 1% who actually collect far more benefit from say defense spending than bottom 50% poor you will probably respond with a complaint about them not paying taxes."

See? Not one word about spending. Thanks for completely making up a false assertion as to what I said, it shows, once again, that conservatives are not going to stick to the truth, but misrepresent and distort everything. Even in the most obviously transparent ways that doesn't fool anybody. It really doesn't.

joneses, your lack of civility is evident, your consistent rudeness is a given. Your attempt to create a false dichotomy is not going to work any better than the misrepresentation that TOES02800 just presented.

Here's the truth, you don't know what things would be like if Obama had adopted the austerity plan that you are claiming needs to be done. I suppose if you were honest, you could look at Greece and Spain where their austerity failed, but I bet you'd find excuses as to why that wasn't applicable. But you know what? You can easily go out and see the benefits of the stimulus, because they actually built the roads here in this country, unlike Bush's spending, which is actually about 40% of the deficit you attribute to Obama, that went into Iraq or the coffers of Halliburton. And Obama was quite willing to reduce the deficit, but again, you know the Republican party had a collective hissy-fit about it, and you want to know what's also true?

The Ryan plan wouldn't balance the budget either, not till 2040+ and the total debt would increase to over 20 trillion before that.

PS, it was Republican intransigence that lead to the debt downgrading, read the report.

A history or background created for a fictional character in a motion picture or television program.

Similar background information about a real person or thing that promotes fuller understanding of it.

In Fiction Writng there is a technique called Back Story. You use Back Story, to tell the story of what led up to the main story or plot. Back Story helps the reader know the protagonist or antagonist and gives insight into the character.

But what is really important in Back Story is how the character handles the historical event in the current day. You have a serial killer today and as a child he enjoyed pulling the legs of of insects, torturing little frogs and baby turtles. And now as an adult he enjoys the human species in the equation.
