I'd put Magic in Isiah Thompson's place. Earvin was the right guy (I'm keeping a peristaltic wave down as I type that) at the right time for the right team (see above).
You know who else might fit into that realm? A little bit of one of last week's 5@10 favorite topics - Mr. Eddie Murphy.
Little Joe's senior year on The Flats was mighty good. It was Clint Castleberry-like.
Tech fans and players still have Woody Dantzler nightmares.
And the first Adrian Peterson, not his doppelganger from Oklahoma by way of Texas, remains the most dominant college football player I've ever seen. I remember all the talk about Montee Ball's 45 touchdowns for a career this season. AP had that - in just his sophomore year.
If you're gonna go on music pedigree and not following through, I go Julian Lennon. Never thought The Wallflowers were all that.
Pat Rafter and Pat Cash were better than Andy Roddick. I'd have put Andy Murray up there too, until last year.
I'd go Westwood or even Justin Rose, who made a big splash finishing fourth at The Open Championship as a teenager. Of course, Davis Love Thurston Howell the third isn't alone among Americans coming up short - Hunter Mahan, Dustin Johnson, et al, but they have time to rectify this.
And what about Jeff Francoeur as an underachiever? Kid was the most talked about prospect in the state, maybe ever (what would have Twitter and Facebook been like had they existed when in young Mr. Walker's final high school year in Wrightsville?).
First, Tiger does everything he can to give a tournament away (nice fat double there, Eldrick). Then Sergio collapses like the postwar Italian parliament. Yeech. McAvoy played his last hole better.
I don't know that Tyson's problems led to boxing's downfall. He would have had to step aside at some point anyway, and the allegations of rigged bouts and the seaminess and shamelessness of certain promoters really crippled the sport. Now, there hasn't been anyone worth watching to assume Tyson's mantle in the heavyweight ranks. Heavyweights, aside from the Leonard-Hearns-Hagler-Duran era for welterweights and middleweights, have always been the top draw. But it is a division bereft of star power and it has dragged down boxing. I don't know that a Mayweather-Pacquaio fight (come on already) would salvage boxing.
And no one — no one — was more famous in his prime than Ali. No one. He's still more famous now in corners of the world we don't even consider.
5-at-10: Prayers, patience and poise
Also trying to work a putter and "get in my belly" line and can't make it happen.

And I thought you might go Zach played more play Kelly Kapowski than Zach. Dang it, 5.
5-at-10: Winning the offseason, Saban's metaphysical process, Braves and Madonna — yes Madonna
Though your Dodgers stink like Steve Yeager's socks, are you stoked 5 for the postgame concert coming up at Turner Field?
Run DMC!

5@10: Mini-mailbag and how five college coaching may have been viewed when hired
Kiffin wasn't even an opposite field single. He was a bunt attempt with two strikes and nobody on base. I always thought he was a mistake. He were.
So what are the top 5 ways to keep the little 5 at 10s entertained on the drive back to Chattavegas?
5@10 -- All-time Heisman head scratchers

Elway, Montana, Marino ... not Heisman winners.

Ron Powlus.
Wasn't he supposed to win two of those things?

5@10: Needle movers from the Panhandle
I was going to post something else, but Tiger reached for a hybrid in the backswing of my writing and I got distracted. Sorry.
