I noticed your comment about coppinger. I just want to comment that when you have someone as a neighbor or a passing friend is different then having to work for them. That is when they show their true colors. If you survey hamilton county employees, and if their response could be kept confidential, there would be very few if any who would agree with you. It is a real shame that he laid off so many people when there were plenty of positions for them to be transferred to and the reduction of funding for help agency's, then last Saturday he announces himself a raise. Do you really think he cares about anybody else? Now really, with all due respect, actions speak louder then words. I am voting for someone that has a college degree and thinks about the tax payers first, I believe his name is wilson, a professor at utc political science.
Well Tellit, Sweet Pea, I graduated from UTC in 1990, and know both of the cadidates. Jim Coppinger is going to get my vote, and I am sure that Dr. Wilson will appreciate your vote. :-)
It is nice to put a face with a name. I have followed much of what you say in the papers. But yesterday, you lost any respect I might have held for you. Keep spewing the hate and see where it gets you.

I too was laid off from Hamilton County by Jim Coppinger and he did not follow the policies and proceedures where it states you must transfer people to vacancies in the event of a reduction of workforce. I sat down to interview the current mayor. I must say, he really didn't have any good answers or explanation. I even shared with him suggestions on what other counties were doing in times of crisis that were positive, Coppinger didn't seem to care. I asked him why is it that so many making over $100,000.00 a year salary have a take home car in this recession. He basically said, he was not going to take any cars away from anyone which would have reduced the budget and he didn't. I also interviewed Dr. Rick Wilson. I must say, I am very much pro-life, and will always be, but this election. isn't about that. Its about our county, our taxes. It doesn't matter if a candidate is democrat or republican, or if you like obama or not. It matters most that they know what they are doing, follow the policy and proceedures and truly care about its people monies. After interviewing both, Dr. Rick Wilson is the very best candidate. He HAS a college education. He reduced his salary when he worked for the Hamilton county Election several years ago, because he CARES about our tax dollars. Coppinger on the other hand, gave himself a raise after laying people off. Wasn't it enough to collect a pension from the City plus a county salary? That speaks for itself of what kind of person coppinger is inside, for real. It reaffirms that Dr. Wilson is the most qualified and best Candidate for Mayor. Yea, he may be nerdie and stuff like that, but he doesn't pretend to be someone to the public, then someone else behind close doors. His plan does not include any tax increase. He has a plan that recommends consolidation of duplicated services. He is a brilliant man. He has tought political science to many who today are successful teachers, lawyers, politicians,health providers, business men/women etc.... If you could check out his plan for change it is brilliant. Dr. Wilson knows his stuff, super intelligent person. We tell our kids to get a college education so you can get a good job, then we put people in office that don't have one. What kind of message are we sending our kids? Continue the good ole boy trend? That's what matters. Check out Dr. Wilson's facebook for facts. He has made a difference out of his own pocket.
I am very sorry you lost your job. I use to work for the government, state and local. It may not feel like it, but you are alot better off, and I hope you find private sector work.
