Sadly, another front page story in the local paper provides details about the firearms dealer who illegally provided a convicted felon, Jesse Matthews, with the gun that killed police Sgt. Tim Chapin.
We've been hearing the arguments on both sides for decades now: Assault weapons and high-capacity ammo clips pose an unnecessary risk to our entire population, yet they also provide comfort and solace to a very small minority of citizen-soldier-wannabes who fear that their own government is out to get them. Ironically, these same citizens are more than happy to vote for political leaders who push through limits to their personal liberties in the form of legislation like the 'Patriot Act'.
Just like every other time in our history when the most innocent and precious lives in our country have been tragically cut short, most people will feign outrage and clamor for change. Then they will do as they have always done before - settle into their la-z-boys, flip the channel, and let their brains go numb.

"Shut up easy, you have no credibility with me." Like a little child, shaking his fists and pounding on his high-chair. Either too young or without the mental faculties to remember the Bush-era - over-spending in every facet of the economy (did I hear 'Socialism'?), growing the government by leaps and bounds. In fact, Reagan and Bush II top the charts on out-spending President Obama, Clinton and even Carter. A simple 'inconvenient truth', I suppose.
I think with all of the sarcasm here, we're losing track of who's who... When posting, please identify yourselves as either "Rightwingnutjob" or "Elite Demoncrat Socialist". This will make it much easier for us to sort through the comments. If you choose to not include this information, we will assume that you have not yet obtained your voter photo-id card. That's right, BigRidge. Excellent point about VD and how the Pill is all about worry-free sex. Good job. You're obviously a very intelligent man with tremendous depth of background on the subject. Care to share with us who you'll be voting for? We're all very interested in knowling exactly who it is that people with your vast intellect are supporting.
"OBUTTFACE". I get it... it's a conjunction of the words 'Obama' and 'Buttface'. You are quite the witty character, aren't you? How darned clever you are! You should really put a trademark on that one!
Good work, shifarobe. Keep 'em coming. In fact, I really encourage you to start posting your own opinion blog - or become a phone-in regular on national talk-radio shows. Because every time guys like you, Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh open your mouths, or place your pudgy little fingers on the keyboard, you help pile up the votes for the other side. Awesome work!
My, oh my. So many words and so many hours spent discussing this ever-so-important topic. Now, who in the world would possibly benefit from magnifying nits like this one? During an election year? With the economy slowly but steadily improving? The DOW reaching a 4-year high? GM reaping record profits? Obama's approval rating reaching the highest it's been in 3 years? Why, there absolutely MUST be SOMETHING that the little people should be focusing on instead, right?
"Look what they did to Herman Cain..."? Really? Really??? I take back my previous comment as it relates to 'joneses'. 'J', you really need a a broader broadband connection, a library card, possibly a translator, and a support group. The dems haven't had to lift a finger yet. The current field of repubs have whittled themselves down with their own words and in-fighting. All the while trying to kow-tow to "media elites" like Donald Trump and Roger Ailes.
Some of you folks really need to unplug from your internet and cable news and go find something meaningful and relaxing to do with your time. Reading most of these posts is like accidentally finding a wad of chewing gum under a table with your fingers. It's disgusting and you have to go wash your hands immediately afterward.
I think that many people posting here didn't understand the point of the cartoon. Generally speaking, Republican candidates are very proud of their political positions against the equal treatment of all people in this country - in particular, gay people and poor people. This is not a whimsical imagination on Clay's part - it's a reality that is revealed in the political rhetoric and in the actions of those who hold the majority in the House of Representatives. Ironically, it is also typically a Republican who will invoke their deep commitment to God Almighty, as if that alone can justify other bad behavior and biases. Merry Christmas!

Or maybe not.

The Christmas Card
Uh... yeah. That was my point. The operative word in the sentence of mine that you quoted was 'against'.
Cheers!
